Azerbaijani ombudsman prepares another appeal to ICRC, UN regarding captured Azerbaijani soldiers

Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva sent the appeals to the relevant international organizations on November 12 in connection with the gross violation of international law and humanitarian law in relation to Azerbaijani soldiers captured during hostilities as a result of another act of Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan since September 2020, as well as torture, humiliation, and other facts, the Information and PR Department of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights told Trend on Nov. 22.

In her appeal, Aliyeva expressed a demand to take important steps to conduct the appropriate investigation by international organizations, reflecting the facts of inhuman treatment with Azerbaijani prisoners of war by the Armenian Armed Forces, to stop illegal actions against Azerbaijani prisoners of war, their return to Azerbaijan following the requirements of international law, including the definition of international legal responsibility for the actions of the Armenian political leadership, grossly violating human rights and freedoms and committing war crimes.

"Along with the abovementioned aspects, the Ombudsman from the very first day focuses on the issue related to Azerbaijani soldiers Amin Musayev and Bayram Karimov captured by Armenian soldiers and in this regard, another appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN has already been prepared," the appeal said.Original Article

First Vice-President of Brazilian Federal Senate sends letter to President of Azerbaijan

First Vice-President of the Brazilian Federal Senate Antonio Anastasia and Federal Congressman Claudio Cajado sent a letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

We received with immense satisfaction the news of the signing of the Peace Agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia that ended the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region which, unfortunately, claimed the lives of thousands of people.

We are very fond of your country and we closely monitor all matters related to it, especially since we are now presidents of the Brazil-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Groups of the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate. We remain committed to achieving better living conditions for the population of both countries, through mutual collaboration and exchange of experiences in all areas of human development.

As parliamentarians, we strongly support peace and defend that the resolution of territorial conflicts of any other disagreements occur through diplomacy.

Therefore, we salute you Mr. President for the success and success of the negotiations mediated by the Minsk Group, with the end of hostilities and the return of the much desired peace, and we express our wishes for a continuous phase of tranquility and social and economic development," the letter said.

Defence Ministry shares footage of Lachin city

The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has shared the video of Lachin city in Lachin district liberated from the Armenian occupation on December 1, after 28 years of occupation. Lachin is the last of Azerbaijani regions liberated under the trilateral agreement signed between Baku, Moscow and Yerevan on November 10. Earlier, Azerbaijan regained control over Kalbajar and Aghdam districts in line with the peace deal. Azerbaijan also liberated Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli, Shusha before the signing of the peace deal duirng the military operations that started on September 27. The trilateral peace agreement signed by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on November 10 ended the 30-years-old conflict between Baku and Yerevan over Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region that along with the seven adjacent districts came under the occupation of Armenian armed forces in the war in the early 1990s. For about three decades, Armenia failed to implement the UN Security Council resolutions and the resolutions of other international organizations demanding the withdrawal of the Armenian troops, which was the main obstacle to the resolution of the conflict. Azercosmos exports services worth $37.8m in Jan-Oct

Azerbaijan’s and South Caucasus’ only satellite operator Azercosmos OJSC has exported services worth $37.8 million to 30 countries in the world during the period of January-October 2020, the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication of Azerbaijan reported in its “Export Review” for November.

It was noted that the company’s revenues from export amounted to 90 percent of its total revenues.

Moreover, in October, the company exported services worth $6.9 million to 21 countries.

The main countries to which Azercosmos exported its services were the U.S., UK, France, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates.

It should be noted that one of Turkey's leading news channels TRT World has started broadcasting via Azerspace-1 satellite. In addition, Azercosmos has successfully passed all stages of the certification program of the World Teleport Association and received the Tier 4 certificate, which signify 99.9 percent reliability and security for teleportation services, technical infrastructure and business processes on the company.

According to the 2019 results, Azercosmos ranks first among state and non-state exporters in terms of exports in the service sector.

Additionally, the company sealed cooperation agreement with various organizations such as Globecast, ViewMedia, Space Engineering, TheAngle, Prime African Media Systems etc.

Azercosmos along with Azerspace-1, Azerspace-2 and Azersky satellites, allow receiving signals from satellites of other satellite operators and via fiber-optic network.

Established in 2010, the Azercosmos OJSC is the first and only satellite operator in the South Caucasus, which provides high-quality satellite services for telecommunications and geographic intelligence.
