There is no official information from the countries on whether the citizens of Azerbaijan need a document on vaccination against COVID-19 when entering a foreign country, the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) of Azerbaijan told Trend.

Every vaccinated person in Azerbaijan will be registered online, TABIB said.

"The information booklet, which will be provided to the citizen, will indicate in how many days and to which clinic he should come, what side effects of the vaccine are possible, etc. If in the future there are any restrictions regarding the citizen's trip abroad, a document on confirmation of vaccination will be issued," TABIB added.

CBA unveils amount of foreign currency sold to local banks

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) sold $66.4 million to the local banks at the foreign exchange auction held with the participation of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) on January 19, 2021, Trend reports citing the country's CBA.

The demand from banks at the auction decreased by 33.7 percent compared to the previous indicator and was fully met.

At the end of the auction, the weighted average rate of the manat to the dollar amounted to 1.7 AZN/USD.

Earlier the CBA reported that the expectations formed in recent days amid the unfounded news in the press and social networks about the fall of the Azerbaijani manat rate caused a certain demand in the cash currency market, which affected the relative growth of demand at foreign exchange auctions.

However, opinions about the fall of the Azerbaijani manat rate are unfounded, given the rise in oil prices compared to 2020, the adoption of positive decisions on oil production at the recent OPEC + meeting, the launch of vaccination programs against the COVID-19 virus worldwide, and huge transfers from the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan.

The first foreign exchange auction for a long time was held with the participation of SOFAZ on March 10, 2020, during which Azerbaijani banks purchased $323.2 million.

The CBA began to conduct currency auctions through a one-way sale of currency in a competitive environment from mid-January 2017.

Armenia’s revanchist statements against Azerbaijan threaten primarily its people – Ukrainian expert

The military part of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan is over in connection with the convincing military victory of Azerbaijan and the phase of settlement has begun by political and diplomatic means, Ukrainian scientist, Doctor of Law, Professor Alexander Merezhko told Trend.

Merezhko said this commenting on the fact that revanchist statements are voiced by certain circles in Armenia.

Merezhko emphasized that those circles that call for a renewed aggression against Azerbaijan do not take into account that Armenia does not have the necessary military force. Such revanchist statements threaten, first of all, the people of Armenia itself, since it is in the interests of this country and its people to restore normal trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan.

“I will say more: no matter how paradoxical it sounds, Azerbaijan's military victory gives Armenia a chance for a better future, peaceful and free from the burden of occupying foreign territory. This is a chance for mutually beneficial economic cooperation with Azerbaijan, on a new page in the history of both peoples. Such an opportunity should not be missed in favor of revanchist sentiments,” said the expert.

Answering the question about how likely it is that Armenia will initiate the war again, Merezhko stressed that he does not see such a probability in principle.

“I hope for the peaceful development of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of international law,” he added.
