British strain reported in Japan

The Japanese government has confirmed this week that five people who flew from the UK have a new strain of COVID-19, Report mentions, referring to NHK TV.

According to Health Minister Norihisa Tamura, all infected people returned to Japan on December 21. Three of them entered the country from Kansai International Airport in Osaka and two from Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

On December 14, the British Ministry of Health announced a new type of coronavirus in the country. The new strain began to spread in London, as well as in the south-east of England.

A few days later, on December 23, a man from the Republic of South Africa in Britain has been diagnosed with a new mutated variant.

Note that the novel COVID-19 strain is more contagious, so it is considered dangerous.
