Baku thanks Iran for supporting Azerbaijan’s fair position during Karabakh war

Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov has thanked Iran's newly-appointed ambassador Seyyed Abbas Mousavi for Tehran’s support to Azerbaijan's position during the Patriotic War, namely the second Karabakh war between September 27 and November 10.

At a meeting that took place on January 14, the sides also discussed military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries, the Defence Ministry has reported on its website.

Hasanov congratulated Mousavi on the start of his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and wished him success in the sphere of expansion of Azerbaijani-Iranian cooperation. The sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the military sphere and organizing mutual visits by the two countries' military officials. The meeting discussed the current state of Azerbaijani-Iranian military cooperation, prospects for the development of relations in the military-technical, military-educational and military-medical spheres and regional issues, the report added.

The minister stressed the important role of meetings between the Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents in the development of bilateral ties. He also noted the successful development of bilateral cooperation in the military field.

Hasanov asked Mousavi to convey his greetings to Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Hossein Bagheri and Iranian Defence Minister Amir Khatami.

The Iranian diplomat congratulated the Azerbaijani nation and state on the victory in the Patriotic War.

Mousavi expressed his satisfaction with the start of his tenure in Azerbaijan as an ambassador and stressed that he will make every effort for the development of bilateral ties, in particular, cooperation in the military sphere. He described the development of bilateral military cooperation as an important issue in ensuring regional security.

Azerbaijan discloses main principles of vaccination against COVID-19

The main principles of vaccination against COVID-19 have been announced in Azerbaijan, Teymur Musayev, head of the department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health said, Trend reports on Jan. 17.

“Among them are the principles of voluntariness, safety, transparency, phasing, justice, responsibility, cooperation,” head of the department added.

“At the initial stage, medical workers, people older 65, representatives of law enforcement agencies involved in anti-epidemic activity will be vaccinated,” Musayev said.

"Those who are at high risk from a medical point of view; people with chronic diseases of the respiratory system; those undergoing hemodialysis procedure; those having diabetes, obesity; people with at least one chronic disease aged 50 and older; people working in the education sector and social sphere; people permanently living in social institutions; employees having direct contact with the population working in ASAN and DOST service centers, the public transport sector, the banking sector, the telecommunications sector, as well as people working in high-risk conditions (ensuring national and regional security, etc.) will be also vaccinated," Musayev said.

“Passing by the fertile lands, I thought that just as after a drought these fertile lands await rain, so this land awaits its poems, its architectural structures that have been created here for centuries,” Kaseinov added. “Having united, we, all Turkic peoples, will give these lands a new life, we will revive these lands spiritually and culturally on an economic and financial basis. We must all do this together."

After the speeches, the units involved in the exercises left the Nakhchivan city to move in the direction of the Sadarak border checkpoint. Our units crossed the Umid Bridge over the Araz River and continued to move towards the Kars city.
