WhatsApp postpones new update amid scandal
WhatsApp has delayed the renewal of the user agreement, which will be implemented on February 8.
Messenger has changed the application date of the update from February 8 to May 15:
"The management of the social network postpones its implementation until May 16 to be able to explain the new policy to users, to review and accept the terms. No account will be blocked or deleted on February 8."
The world's most used messenger WhatsApp has announced to introduce new terms of service and privacy policy from February 8, 2021.
According to a new clause added to the WhatsApp messenger agreement, the user must provide their personal information to Facebook.
Thus, WhatsApp, which is part of Facebook, will share their personal information with the company's "whole family of applications" to analyze users' tastes and habits. This information is necessary to choose an individual advertising package to provide them with the most appropriate services.
Among the personal information are the location, programs downloaded or deleted related to the "family", and participation in social networks.
WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart later said that introducing the new rule does not mean that users' personal correspondence and calls will be visible to messenger or Facebook. The new privacy policy aims to increase transparency and more clearly convey the difference between personal accounts and commercial accounts.
