Latvian President pays respect to National Leader Heydar AliyevGermany has seen an increase in the number of politically motivated crimes. Report informs, citing the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, that 44,034 politically motivated crimes were registered in 2020.
3,354 cases were categorized as moderate and severe – the highest figure since 2016. Of the 44,034 crimes, 23,400 were committed by right-wing and 11,000 by left-wing radical groups. Moreover, the origin of 8,000 crimes could not be determined, and the rest were caused by foreign or religious ideology.
According to the Federal Interior Ministry, by 2020, anti-Semitic motives will reach a record high. Last year, 56 anti-Semitic crimes were registered in Germany. Fifty-one of them were charged with purposeful infliction of bodily harm.
Politically motivated crimes have been listed as a separate category in Germany since 2001.
