Azerbaijan, Russia have same position on issue of Zangezur corridor
"The goal of the tripartite agreement is that the Zangezur Corridor must be launched. Azerbaijan is fulfilling all its obligations in this regard. I have been to that region; construction work is underway. President Ilham Aliyev's approach to communication lines is that they must be clearly in working order," Political scientist Tofig Abbasov told Report.
According to him, the central element of the new geopolitical configuration in the Caucasus is the Zangazur Corridor:
"Although now France supports the Armenians. But France is far from this region. We are in this region; there are Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Georgia. It is in the interest of all these countries to launch the Zangezur Corridor. Russia also wants this because several new preferences of Russia are opened in this issue. Direct land connections will be set with Turkey, and relations with Iran will be normalized. At the same time, it is an essential communication for Armenia itself. Therefore, after establishing power in Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan should be seriously asked what he has done and what he intends to do in connection with the obligations arising from the tripartite statement."
T.Abbasov said that the personal relations of the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan also give positive feedback to this process: "There should be both a railway and a highway. It is a multifaceted communication for the future. Therefore, Armenia will not be able to exceed its obligations. The opening of the Zangezur corridor will have a positive political impact on all processes. Russia and Azerbaijan have the same position on this issue. It was clear from the beginning that Azerbaijan and Russia act in harmony on this matter. Therefore, I consider the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Moscow very successful. In fact, there were expectations, and they all come true. Equal relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are deepening. The personal relationships of the first persons also have a positive effect on this process."
