MP: Foreign trips also increase the number of infections
"The rising coronavirus morbidity and the death toll is a matter of serious concern in Azerbaijan. The situation is the same in several neighboring countries. Georgia has already adopted strict preventive measures," Milli Majlis member Jeyhun Mammadov told Report.
The situation is worsened by non-compliance of the citizens with the established rules and travels abroad. Analysis of the process shows that if the problem remains the same, the Azerbaijani government can make confident decisions on applying restrictions. There are two sides: one is a state which is trying to do its part responsibly. In the past, Azerbaijan has successfully fought the pandemic. The World Health Organization highly assessed the measures taken by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan provided humanitarian assistance to many countries. We must protect this image. The other side in the fight against the pandemic is citizens. They should also strive to follow safety rules. "
The deputy called on citizens to follow the pandemic rules:
"Analysis of the situation shows that some citizens still do not fully comply with the rules and are not vaccinated. Our state conducts the speedy vaccination process. So, all citizens should be sensitive and responsible and take an active part in the process. People who do not get vaccinated should think not only of themselves but also of other citizens. A healthy future depends on each of us."
There are currently 13,807 active coronavirus patients in the country. So far, 354,662 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Azerbaijan, while 335,771 people have recovered. The death toll has reached 5,084 nationwide. So far, 5,478,042 doses of vaccine have been administered to citizens.
