Georgia, Spain discuss prospects for bilateral relations

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili met with Foreign Minister of Spain Jose Manuel Albarez to outline future prospects for expanding bilateral ties, Trend reports via Georgian Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed bilateral relations between Georgia and Spain, including the possibility of expanding cooperation in the trade and economic spheres, as well as prospects for the development of tourism relations.

Albarez praised the efforts made by Georgia on the path to European integration, and noted the support of Spain in this regard, which is of particular importance during the consideration by the European Commission of the second part of the EU questionnaire.

The second part of the European Commission questionnaire, consists of 33 chapters and up to 2300 questions in all sectoral directions, was handed over by Georgian Prime Minister on May 10, 2022.

Some 24,674 unemployed get jobs in 2022

The State Employment Agency under the Labor and Social Security Ministry has provided jobs for around 24,674 unemployed and job seekers in January-April 2022, Azernews reports.

Of those involved in the active employment program, 13,736 were provided with suitable jobs, while about 4,325 people were involved in the self-employment program to start small businesses. The ministry is helping them to establish small businesses in accordance with their business plans.

The agency also involved 1,023 unemployed people in vocational training in the first four months of the year. Within the framework of cooperation with employers, these people were provided with advanced training courses in various areas and work was started to provide them with employment.

The ministry takes consistent measures to provide social support to vulnerable groups of the population, including martyrs’ families, war veterans and civilians affected by the war.

Social support measures taken by Azerbaijan’s Labor and Social Security Ministry covered more than 30,000 citizens, including members of martyrs’ families, war veterans and civilians affected by the Armenian aggression since the end of the 44-day war with Armenia in November 2020.

Turkish FM meets with Finnish, Swedish counterparts

Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavushoglu on May 14 held a tripartite meeting with his Swedish counterpart, Ann Linde, and his Finnish counterpart, Pekka Haavisto, in Berlin amid discussions that Turkey could block their NATO membership bid, Trend reports citing Hurriyet Daily News.

“I met with my Swedish and Finnish counterparts in Berlin on the fringes of the NATO Foreign Ministers Informal Meeting,” Cavushoglu said on Twitter.

Ahead of the meeting, the minister reiterated that the countries wanting to be NATO members must avoid supporting PKK and YPG and said he would discuss this issue with his Finnish and Swedish counterparts.

Cavushoglu emphasized that Sweden and Finland clearly support the PKK/YPG, saying, “This affects the feelings of our people negatively, despite all our warnings.”

“Therefore, a country that will be an ally should not support the PKK/YPG, the terrorist organization that attacks us every day, kills our soldiers, our police and our civilians,” he added.
