President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has meet today with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Beijing, informs the press-service of the Azerbaijani head of state.
In its turn the Kremlin press-service has released the transcript of the opening statements by teh two leaders:
V.Putin: I am very glad to see you. We already had the pleasure to speak briefly with each other, as they say, on the sidelines. I am glad to have the opportunity to talk with you in a more expanded format.
We meet with you regularly, we have the opportunity not only to exchange opinions, to synchronise watches, but also to adjust our joint work. In general, in my opinion, it goes very well.
Trade and economic ties are developing. We even created, it may be said, on your initiative, a special mechanism of interaction in the trade and economic sphere. In my opinion, this initiative is developing well.
Maybe we will ask our colleagues from the Russian and Azerbaijani sides to speak out on this. But on the whole, we are satisfied with the development of our relations. I’m sure we’ll talk today about all aspects of our interaction.
I am very glad to see you.
I.Aliyev: Thank you very much, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich! Very pleased with our new meeting.
The meetings give a very serious impetus to the development of our relations. We meet regularly and, of course, we solve very important issues of cooperation, interaction in all areas.
We are very satisfied with how our relations develop. They cover all areas. And an active political dialogue is underway. We are seeing an increase in trade turnover.
As you noted, there is a special mechanism for promoting specific projects. Very big interest among business circles to work together.
Of course, an important area of cooperation is the transport and logistics sector. And here we have a good result. In energy, agriculture, humanitarian cooperation.
I think that the level of mutual relations today is such that it allows us to solve many issues of both the bilateral agenda and the regional one. Therefore, I am confident that our current meeting will also give a good impetus to the future development of relations, which are based on friendship, good-neighbourliness, mutual support and mutual respect. We value this relationship very much, appreciate it very much and look forward to moving forward.
V.Putin: In terms of trade, our trade turnover increased by almost 14 per cent last year and reached $2.5 billion. And on the international agenda, too, we have many common questions.
We agreed that in August we will hold the next Russian-Azerbaijani-Iranian summit in Russia. So let’s talk about this, too, today.
