Azerbaijan has repeatedly suggested launching the border delimitation and demarcation with Armenia, military expert, and editor-in-chief at the Natsionalnaya Oborona (National Defense) magazine Igor Korotchenko told Report.
"Unfortunately, in response to these proposals, the Armenian side has been resorting to armed provocations over the past months, targeting Azerbaijani military, similar to what they did over the past 30 years. Moreover, Azerbaijan offered Armenia to sign a peace treaty, in which the sides would recognize each other's territorial integrity, which would help them move forth in terms of the peaceful and economic prosperity of the region," Korotchenko said.
He also noted Armenia's refusal to unblock the transport communications in the region, particularly the implementation of the project of the Zangazur transport corridor.
"Azerbaijan needs peace, defined borders, economic development, and unblocked transport corridors. The most dangerous here is that Armenians frequently commit their provocations behind the Russian peacekeepers' backs. In this sense, Armenia acts absolutely unconstructively and dangerously. But we will hope that Yerevan will make due conclusions, and the Armenian party would start implementing all those commitments it undertook under trilateral agreements. The peoples and the countries of this region need only the way to peace, cooperation, and economic prosperity of the South Caucasus. Armenia should follow the policy of good reason and good neighbor relations. Only this way will help it overcome the financial and political deadlock to which the Armenian people were led by the caravan of rulers striving for and implementing confrontation with Azerbaijan. It is the road to nowhere," the Russian expert said.
