In July this year, the STAR refinery in Turkey, owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), imported 926,730 tons of crude oil, Report informs, citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
According to the report, this is 70,493 tons or 8.2% more than in July last year and accounts for 22.21% of crude oil imported to Turkey.
The construction of the refinery started on October 5, 2011 and was commissioned on October 19, 2018. STAR holds Turkey's first Strategic Investment Promotion Document. In September 2019, the refinery began operating at full capacity.
The plant has a refining capacity of 10 million tons of crude oil per year. The plant can process Urals, Azeri Light and Kirkuk oil. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquefied petroleum gas, mixed xylene and petroleum coke.
