"We did not violate anyone's borders. There are the maps of 1920, the maps of Tsarist Russia. Let them see where the border passes. We consider the areas we settled in as Azerbaijan's territories, and we do it right," President of Azerbaijan, victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev said, speaking at the meeting with the public representatives of Jabrayil.
According to the head of state, the leadership of Armenia today openly says at the highest level that it is Azerbaijan's right to settle in a certain part of the Goris-Kafan road, as is indicated in the Soviet maps.
"We are in our own territory. This is what Armenia says. Others say we have violated someone's border, which is just ridiculous. Thus, the region is entering a new period. We consider that this period should be used in the right direction," the head of state said.
The president noted that the Azerbaijani side has a political will. If Armenia demonstrates the same will, the two countries will be able to resolve this issue without any mediators and establish a lasting peace in the region.
