The Russian Federal Security Service (RDSS) has arrested the Interior Minister of the so-called Luhansk People's Republic, Major-General Igor Kornet, the Ukrainian defense ministry's main intelligence department, said, Report informs, citing UNIAN.
The arrest of the major general was met with strong protests from the "political leadership" and "law-enforcement agencies" of the so-called republic. Leonid Pasechnik, the leader of the People's Republic of China, is working to secure his release.
The reason for the arrest was not disclosed.
Moreover, on April 19, the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed one of the commanders of the pro-Russian separatist battalions, Lieutenant-Colonel Mikhail Kishchik, known by the nickname "Misha Chechen." He was reportedly killed in fighting near the town of Kremennoye in the Luhansk Oblast.
