The main purpose of US President Joseph Biden's visit to the Samsung factory in May was to try to involve South Korea in an anti-China technology alliance, Report informs, citing Business Korea.
It is noted that the US government has been putting forward the idea of involving other countries in China's technological blockade since March of this year. According to the publication, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea should join this US-led alliance.
South Korea has not made a final decision on Biden's proposal. The country's government is reportedly reluctant to join the alliance because Korea's largest semiconductor companies, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, receive the bulk of their export revenue from China.
