Armenia should pay $1 trillion in reparations to Azerbaijan, Professor of the Faculty of Economy and Administration at Ataturk University Kerem Karabulut told the International Conference on “The Role of UNESCO Conventions Concerning the Protection of Cultural Properties and Aspects of Improving Their Implementation."
"Azerbaijan is a cradle of culture in the Caucasus. Shusha is the center of Turkic culture, a very important city for the Turkic world," he said.
Karabulut added that the economic aspect of destructions in Shusha and in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan in general should not be forgotten.
"Armenia must be held accountable for the damage it inflicted to these territories. Both in relation to all infrastructure objects and cultural monuments."
According to his estimations, Armenia must pay Azerbaijan $1 trillion in compensation for damage.
Kerem Karabulut added that 'even this amount seems insufficient' after the destruction seen in Aghdam.
