In the part of the Zangazur corridor passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, 40% of the works on the railway line and 70% on the highway have been completed. The construction of the railway and highways continues on the Zangazur corridor, which can connect the Eastern and Western countries, Vahid Hajiyev, the special representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Zangilan district, said at an event held in Zangilan with the participation of a delegation from Saudi Arabia, Report informs.
According to Hajiyev, there are five main development directions that will directly contribute to the sustainable future of Zangilan: "These are agriculture, mining industry, transport and logistics, tourism and green energy."
Vahid Hajiyev said that although there were challenges in the reconstruction of Eastern Zangazur, there were also great opportunities at the same time.
"One of the significant challenges was demining and security. Ensuring security, stability and peace in urban and rural areas was the first priority to achieve sustainability.
One of the main obstacles to reconstruction efforts and the safe return of IDPs has been the massive contamination of de-occupied areas with landmines and other explosive devices. Currently, the process of demining East Zangazur continues."
