Preliminary election results: former minister, deputy’s wife, minister’s daughter, deputy’s son…
EC chairman said that 2,196,711 voters participated in the election:
“Voter turnout was 37.27 percent.”
According to Meydan TV’s research, 88 people who mandates in the preliminary results were members of the 6th Milli Majlis.
Elshad Musayev, the chairman of the Great Azerbaijan Party, who received a mandate for the first time, took part in the presidential election on February 9.

Gunay Efendiyeva – the daughter of former Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Efendiyev, Samir Valiyev – the son of former YAP member of parliament Ahmet Valiyev, Azer Allahverenov, Gaya Mammadov (worked in various diplomatic positions at the NATO representation in 2008-2011), Parvana Valiyeva (YAP), Mehriban Valiyeva (YAP), Sabina Salmanova (neutral), Elnara Akimova (YAP), Zaur Shukurov, Nigar Mammadova (daughter of former Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov), Rizvan Nabiyev (neutral), Ramid Namazov (YAP), Heydar Asadov (former agriculture minister and former chairman of the calculation chamber), Mahir Süleymanli (YAP) (son of ex-MP Tahir Süleymanli), Alibala Maharramzade (YAP), Gunay Aghamali (daughter of ex-MP Fazail Agamali (Mother Vatan Party), Tanzila Rustamkhanli – wife of ex-MP Sabir Rustamkhanli (VHP), Fariz Ismayilzadeh (neutral), Vasif Gafarov (neutral), Elchin Mirzabayli (AHD), Badal Badalov (YAP), Asif Askerov (YAP, former executive head), Rovshan Muradov (YAP), Gasimli Mirjalil Khagani oglu (neutral ).
In addition, Mubariz Gurbanli, deputy of the I, II, III, IV convocation of the Milli Majlis, chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations in 2014-2024, deputy of the Milli Majlis in 1995-2005, in Istanbul in 2006-2010 Seyyad Aran, the Consul General of Azerbaijan and the former first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations in 2012-2015, also received a mandate. In 2005, Azer Amiraslanov, head of the Economy Department of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers, received a mandate from the 98th Shamkir electoral district.
The oldest of the newly announced deputies is Ziyad Samadzade (84 years old), and the youngest is 29-year-old Mahir Suleymanli. This time, the number of female deputies increased by 4, compared to 22 in the 6th Mejlis. Gulshan Pashayeva, Gunay Efendiyeva, Parvana Valiyeva, Elnara Akimova, Parvin Karimzade, Mehriban Valiyeva, Sabina Salmanova, Nigar Mammadova, Gunay Aghamali, Tanzila Rustamkhanli received mandates for the first time.
The holding of early elections was initiated by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
The timing of the elections coincided with the holding of the United Nations (UN) global forum – COP29 climate conference in Baku.
A day before the election, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said that 6,421,960 citizens will vote in the elections.
The chairman of the commission said that the elections will be held in 6478 polling stations, 6343 of which are permanent and 135 are temporary.
According to the chairman of the CEC, the majority of voters in the country are between the ages of 30 and 39:
“The number of first-time voters is 51,141. Our oldest voter is a 134-year-old woman. “Our oldest male voter is 109 years old.”
Mazahir Panahov said that there are a total of 112,749 local observers, 7,077 of them are registered in the CEC, and 105,672 in the constituency election commissions (CECs).
The elections were observed by 60 deputies of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and 300 members of the monitoring mission of the OSCE Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Bureau.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) was not invited to observe the early elections.
Prior to this election, Azerbaijan did not invite the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to observe the extraordinary presidential elections held in February this year.
The refusal to invite the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is one of the reasons for the suspension of the authority of the delegation of Azerbaijan in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for a period of one year.
Musavat, Republican Alternative (REAL) and other pro-opposition parties participated in the election.
The Azerbaijan People’s Front Party (APF) boycotted the elections stating that “there are no conditions for fair political competition in the country, fundamental freedoms are restricted, and there are more than 300 political prisoners.”
