The aim of the strategy was simple: by distributing reserves across the country in tank cars, ensure the oil’s preservation until it could be exported at the highest possible price per barrel.
The insurgents infiltrated the relevant agencies to obtain the necessary information.
They then conducted on-site reconnaissance, intercepted train schedules, and analyzed vulnerabilities and escape routes.
As a result of explosions and arson, over 10,000 metric tons of crude oil were destroyed.
Operations at a number of key rail junctions were also halted—a multi-day “traffic jam” on the tracks blocked supplies and paralyzed key logistics corridors.
