The Taiz Military Axis media center said the casualties were recorded on the Al-Aqrud front in Al-Misrakh district, where government forces engaged Houthi fighters, Anadolu Agency reported.
A military source told Yemen’s state-run Saba news agency that government troops engaged in heavy fighting with the Houthis at several locations across Taiz province on Thursday.

The source said clashes were particularly intense in Bani Bakari in Jabal Habashi district, Humair in Maqbanah district and the Al-Aqrud front in the southeastern part of the province.
The fighting subsequently extended to the Al-Kadaha and Jabal Han fronts, along with positions on the northern and eastern sides of Taiz city, the source added.
Government forces repelled Houthi attacks after several hours of intense fighting and forced Houthi fighters to withdraw, while causing losses in personnel and equipment, according to the military source.
The Taiz Military Axis later reported that military aircraft carried out two strikes against Houthi positions on the Humair front in Maqbanah district, west of Taiz.
The Houthis did not immediately comment on the reports.
Fighting has intensified considerably in Taiz and neighboring Lahj in recent weeks. On Monday, government forces said they had targeted Houthi reinforcements, including a tank, in the Al-Marzam area of Al-Rubaie district west of Taiz.
Government forces also said last Friday that they had captured the strategic Numan mountain range in Lahj, which overlooks the Al-Wazi’iyah and Al-Mudarabah districts, after clashes with the Houthis.
The military said gaining control of the area would help protect nearby villages and block a route used by the Houthis for infiltration.
The latest clashes are part of a wider escalation across Yemen that has intensified since July, ending a period of relative calm that had largely persisted since a UN-brokered truce began in April 2022.
The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several other areas of Yemen since 2014.
