Kashpirovsky died at his home in Moscow. He had previously complained of feeling unwell and had undergone several medical examinations, according to Russian media reports.

Kashpirovsky rose to prominence in 1989 with a television programme broadcast on Central Television in the Soviet Union. His televised sessions featuring what he called “healing suggestions” became one of the most prominent and widely discussed phenomena of the late Soviet era.
Kashpirovsky had a medical education and worked as a psychiatrist. He was also elected to Russia’s State Duma in its first convocation.
