The explosion occurred at a temporary storage site near the city of Sarmada, according to the Defense Ministry, Anadolu Agency reported.
Teams from the ministry were working with relevant authorities to secure the area.
Subhi Assaf, director of the media office at the Idlib Health Directorate, confirmed the preliminary death toll and said the injuries ranged from minor to moderate. Rescue teams were searching through the rubble for possible missing people, he added.

Syrian state broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya reported that internal security forces had closed roads leading to the site to protect civilians.
Civil defense and firefighting teams were also working to extinguish a fire that broke out following the explosion.
Sarmada, in northern Idlib province, is one of the area’s major population and commercial centers.
