Dozens of students gathered early Friday outside the Andreas-Gymnasium in the Friedrichshain district and used trash bins to obstruct access. They carried signs reading “Stop compulsory military service and education cuts,” “Education not war,” “Smaller classes,” and “Solidarity with France,” Anadolu agency reported.

The initiative “School strike against conscription” said the action focused mainly on calls for greater spending on education and opposition to plans to reintroduce mandatory military service. Protests also took place outside the Leibniz-Gymnasium in Kreuzberg, and some students marched close to the Ellen-Key-Schule.
The protests continued a pattern that began Monday, when students at the French Gymnasium in central Berlin blocked access to their building in a show of solidarity with ongoing demonstrations in France.
