During the call, the two leaders reaffirmed that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are based on principles of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness, highlighting the deep historical, ethnic, and religious ties between the two peoples, News.Az reports, citing the presidential website.
The presidents spoke positively about President Pezeshkian’s previous visits to Azerbaijan and the substantive negotiations held during their meetings, noting that these high-level contacts have played a significant role in advancing bilateral relations. They also emphasized that construction of the Aghband–Kelaleh highway bridge over the Araz River is progressing according to schedule.
President Aliyev expressed concern over the current regional situation, stressing that Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions. He underlined Baku’s support for dialogue and mutual understanding as key means of resolving regional issues.
For his part, President Pezeshkian thanked President Aliyev.
The two sides also exchanged views on various aspects of the friendly and brotherly ties between their countries and discussed future joint steps, agreeing to maintain further contacts.
