Türkiye exited the World Cup at the group stage after losing two of their three matches. The team subsequently suffered four straight defeats in Nations League A, losing to France, Belgium and Italy twice, Anadolu Agency reported.
The losing streak marked Türkiye’s first run of four consecutive defeats in competitive fixtures in 38 years.

The 52-year-old Italian coach had led the national team since September 2023, succeeding Stefan Kuntz.
During his tenure, Montella guided Türkiye to the quarterfinals of UEFA Euro 2024 and helped the team qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The federation did not announce a successor to Montella.
In a separate announcement, the Turkish Football Federation said its executive committee would remain in office until the next ordinary general assembly, when elections would be held.
Montella’s departure follows a difficult period for the national team, with the federation now facing the task of appointing a new coach and preparing for its upcoming international fixtures.
