Ghalibaf made the remarks while visiting Iraq, according to a statement published on his Telegram channel, Al Jazeera reported.
“If you look at the resources and raw materials of Muslim countries, you will realise that our enemies are coming to plunder them,” Ghalibaf said, arguing that Iran must develop plans to overcome the sanctions.

His comments came after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced what he described as the toughest sanctions ever imposed on Iran.
Ghalibaf also called on Iraq to cooperate with Iran amid the ongoing war, as Tehran faces renewed economic pressure from Washington.
The Iranian parliament speaker’s remarks underscore Tehran’s efforts to prepare for the potential economic impact of expanded US sanctions while seeking closer cooperation with neighboring countries.
