Guterres met Albudaiwi in New York on Saturday on the sidelines of the GCC chief’s participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, according to a statement from the GCC Secretariat General, Anadolu Agency reported.
The two officials “strongly condemned” what the statement described as Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and the deliberate targeting of civilian objects, warning that such actions pose a severe threat to regional peace and security.

Guterres and Albudaiwi also discussed cooperation between the UN and GCC, including ways to strengthen coordination on issues of mutual interest.
Their talks covered regional and geopolitical developments as well as diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving conflicts in the region.
According to the GCC statement, Guterres also praised what he described as the “substantial progress and prosperity” achieved by GCC member states and their contributions to international stability.
The meeting came as Saudi Civil Defense issued several alerts Saturday, including two in Riyadh, two in Al-Kharj and one in Farasan. Authorities did not specify the nature of the threats and reported no casualties or property damage.
The alerts followed a broader wave of warnings on Friday involving seven cities and governorates.
Saudi authorities said Thursday that one person was killed and two were injured by debris after a Houthi drone was intercepted over Taif.
The Houthis later claimed they had “foiled” what they described as “criminal attempts” allegedly carried out by Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, but provided no further details. Saudi authorities did not link those claims to the security alerts.
The latest developments follow repeated Houthi threats and attacks involving missiles and drones. On July 20, the group announced what it called a “maritime blockade” of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has led a coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis since March 2015. The Houthis seized control of Sanaa and expanded their control over parts of Yemen in September 2014.
