The broadcaster reported that the loud blast heard in Eastern Ghouta was caused by an explosion in the pipeline near the power station, Anadolu Agency reported.
The Syrian Electricity Company said the explosion cut off the gas supply needed to operate three power plants, forcing the Deir Ali, Nasiriyah and Tishreen facilities out of service.

A fire caused by the explosion was still burning, while specialized teams were working to contain the incident, the company said.
The shutdown of the three plants is expected to reduce electricity generation and temporarily increase power rationing hours because of lower available generating capacity, according to the company.
It said further updates on the condition of the plants and electricity supplies would be issued as the situation develops.
