The parties praised the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UAE across all areas, including political, economic, energy (including renewable energy), cultural, humanitarian and other fields. They also discussed the significance of the Peace Shield – 2026 joint operational-tactical exercise held in Abu Dhabi between the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, expressing confidence that such drills contribute to the development of operational military interoperability between the two countries’ armed forces. The sides underscored the importance of continuing these exercises in the future.
The heads of state further exchanged views on prospects for relations and future contacts.
Following the meeting, a signing ceremony was held in the presence of the two presidents for a document concerning the sale of a portion of the non-controlling stake held by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy in Southern Gas Corridor CJSC to XRG, the international investment arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
The defence ministries of the two countries also signed a Letter of Intent on defence cooperation.
Aliyev and Al Nahyan expressed confidence that the signed agreements would give further impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
The talks also touched on the possibility of establishing twinning relations between Baku and Abu Dhabi.
