Maharram Sultanzade, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, told İdman.Biz that the triple jumper has resumed his career and begun preparations aimed at qualifying for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Babayev had previously been troubled by a back injury, which contributed to his decision to step away from competition. After consulting doctors, however, he received medical clearance to continue his career.
The 29-year-old has achieved some of the most notable results in the history of Azerbaijani athletics. He won gold in the triple jump at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, becoming the first Azerbaijani athlete to claim a title at the event.
