The opening ceremony of Karakoram 2026 took place at a military training base in Korla, in China’s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to China Military Bugle, an official media account of the Chinese armed forces, Anadolu Agency reported.
During the opening activities, the two sides exchanged counter-terrorism experience, while Pakistani troops observed Chinese weapons and military equipment.

The exercise will include training in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations, target search and firing while on the move, and long-range sniping. It will also feature joint command activities and live-force exercises.
According to Chinese military media, the drills are intended to deepen cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces and strengthen their ability to operate together in counter-terrorism missions.
