Fox Business host Jackie DeAngelis said the United States should avoid excessive restrictions on artificial intelligence development, arguing that “it needs to let innovation move faster — not tie it down with restrictions” as competition with China intensifies.
“I am worried about China. But at the same time, I believe the U.S. government should not hold back the development of AI in America.
I don’t understand why we have to wait, look for workarounds, and make it harder for American companies and users to access technologies that are inevitably going to spread anyway.
Yes, national security matters. But today, almost any issue the administration wants to control is immediately turned into a national security issue.
I look at this from a free-market standpoint: let the market do its job. If a dangerous product appears, the market will correct it, businesses will figure it out — or they will go out of business.
The United States should not weaken itself in the race with China. If America wants to preserve its leadership in AI, it needs to let innovation move faster — not tie it down with restrictions.”
