The move comes amid growing settler violence in the West Bank, which has further weakened prospects for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.
“France is going to put an end to its commerce with Israeli settlements in Palestine, along with 11 other countries which have also undertaken similar engagements,” Barrot wrote on X.

He said the decision was being taken because the West Bank was “close to exploding,” citing what he described as rapid settlement expansion, increased violence against Palestinians by extremist settlers and acts of terrorism that have themselves been condemned by Israeli authorities.
Last year, France formally recognised Palestinian statehood at a high-level summit held ahead of the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.
