French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments on the battlefield and France’s continued support for Kyiv, Anadolu Agency reported.
The two ministers discussed what France described as Russia’s “systematic and increasingly intense” strikes against Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure and civilians.

They also discussed ways to maintain and increase pressure on Moscow as efforts continue to support Ukraine and push toward an end to the conflict.
Barrot reiterated France’s “full support” for Ukraine through bilateral assistance, European mechanisms and initiatives under France’s G7 presidency.
The ministers also discussed upcoming international diplomatic engagements, particularly the United Nations General Assembly in September.
According to the French Foreign Ministry, the UN gathering will provide an opportunity to mobilize international support for Ukraine and reaffirm the country’s right to defend its sovereignty, freedom and independence.
Barrot also emphasized that France intends to remain alongside Ukraine for the long term and continue coordinating with international partners until what he described as a “just and lasting peace” is achieved.
The latest talks underscore Paris’ continued efforts to keep Ukraine high on the international agenda while pressing Russia over its military campaign and attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure.
