The detainees are citizens of Kenya, Türkiye, Russia, India, Egypt, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Sudan, Cameroon, China and Azerbaijan, News Georgia reports.
As part of a special immigration control operation, officers from the Migration Department inspected specific locations and facilities of various types to identify foreign nationals staying in Georgia without legal grounds, the ministry said.

The detainees were taken to a temporary accommodation centre operated by the Migration Department, and procedures for their deportation have been launched.
According to News Georgia. the Georgian Dream government has stepped up its campaign against illegal migration during its 13th year in power. In mid-2025, the country tightened its migration legislation, simplifying procedures for deporting migrants and searching their homes and workplaces, while also restricting opportunities for them to work.
Since then, up to 160 special raids have been conducted across the country, with more than 18,000 foreign nationals checked and around 1,000 illegal migrants deported.
