In a statement released Wednesday, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) said it became aware of the reported plan through media reports and voiced concerns about the decision-making process, News.Az reports, citing Anadolu Agency.
“We are deeply concerned by the lack of due process,” the confederation said.

CONCACAF said many stakeholders across the region and the wider football community were disappointed that such a significant proposal had reportedly been prepared and made public without discussions involving the relevant governance bodies and stakeholders.
The confederation stressed that football leaders have a responsibility to safeguard the long-term interests of the sport.
“As leaders within football, we are the custodians of the game. Collectively, FIFA, the Confederations and every Member Association have a responsibility to always act in the best interests of the sport,” the statement said.
It added that decisions affecting global football should be guided by good governance, transparent processes and long-term stewardship, emphasizing that these principles are essential to maintaining trust in the sport’s administration.
CONCACAF said it operates according to those standards and expressed confidence that all members of the FIFA community would uphold the same approach.
The statement comes after reports that FIFA is considering a plan to involve private investors in the commercial future of the World Cup, a move that has sparked debate over governance, transparency and the future management of football’s biggest tournament.
