Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the attack targeted the city’s Novobavarskyi district, where the drone hit a five-story residential building, News.Az reports, citing RBC-Ukraine.
The strike set the building’s roof on fire, prompting emergency responders to evacuate all residents. Firefighters and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze and assist those affected.

Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov said the roof fire spread across approximately 200 square meters, while the blast wave shattered windows in nearby apartment buildings and damaged a civilian vehicle.
Officials initially reported two injuries before raising the toll to five wounded as emergency crews continued search and rescue operations.
Among the injured was a 67-year-old woman, who received medical treatment at the scene, according to Syniehubov.
The latest strike comes days after another Russian attack on Kharkiv. On July 26, Ukrainian authorities said a Russian Banderol munition struck a private home in the city’s Slobidskyi district, killing a 40-year-old woman and injuring 12 others, including two children.
Russia has not commented on the latest strike. Moscow says it targets military-related infrastructure, while Ukrainian authorities maintain that residential areas and civilian infrastructure continue to be hit in Russian attacks.
