“We reiterate that civilians and civilian infrastructure, including humanitarians and their supplies and property, must always be protected,” UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters, conveying a message from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Anadolu Agency reported.
Citing casualty reports from UNICEF, Haq said nine children had been killed or died from their wounds over the previous week.

Among those killed were two sisters aged 6 and 12, along with four other children between the ages of 3 and 14, he said.
A pregnant woman and her unborn child were also killed by gunfire, while at least 13 other children were injured, according to the UN.
Haq said security partners had reported continued attacks across Gaza over the weekend, particularly in areas west of the “Yellow Line.” The reported attacks included airstrikes, artillery shelling, naval fire and gunfire.
The latest reports come amid continued violence despite the Oct. 10 ceasefire agreement. According to figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry cited by the UN, Israeli violations of the ceasefire have killed 1,372 Palestinians and injured 4,659 others as of Monday.
Since Oct. 8, 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza, according to Gaza health authorities. Around 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure has also been destroyed, according to the figures cited in the report.
