The assailants opened fire on the policemen and threw a hand grenade near the hospital’s main entrance before fleeing the scene, police said.

An additional police contingent was sent to the area following the attack, and a search operation was launched in surrounding locations to find the attackers.
Authorities said an investigation was underway, while the motive for the attack and the identities of those responsible were not immediately known.
The incident came after another attack in Tank district earlier this week, when three traffic policemen were killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their mobile patrol vehicle in the Wazirabad Bazaar area.
