The exhibition is part of a wider initiative across Europe aimed at drawing international attention to the humanitarian consequences of landmines in Azerbaijan. Organizers say mines left behind in territories previously under occupation continue to threaten civilians despite the end of the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations reported.

The campaign’s latest exhibition in the Italian capital followed events in Geneva on October 5, Brno on October 7, Ljubljana on October 9, Sarajevo on October 11, Zagreb on October 13 and Salzburg on October 15.
The series seeks to raise awareness of the risks posed by landmines and the ongoing need for mine clearance to protect civilians and support recovery in affected areas.
The Gilavar Photo Club Public Union is a recipient of a 2026 grant under the initiative “Initiatives Addressing the Problem of Mines and Unexploded Ordnance.” The grant competition was jointly announced by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations and the Karabakh Revival Fund, in partnership with the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
The European photo exhibitions are being organized as part of the funded project.
