The French Navy said the fire started in the morning and was extinguished several hours later, according to French broadcaster BFMTV, Anadolu Agency reported.
“There were no injuries and no impact was observed on the vessel’s nuclear facilities,” the Navy said in a statement.

Initial findings indicated that the fire may have been caused by cutting work involving a blowtorch, according to the statement. The Navy said an investigation into the incident was continuing.
The Charles de Gaulle has been undergoing a scheduled technical stop at the Toulon naval base since late August. The aircraft carrier is expected to remain there until early December.
The vessel is France’s flagship aircraft carrier and is powered by nuclear reactors.
