In a post on X, Ghalibaf said the United States could instead use the money it spends supporting Israel and maintaining hundreds of military bases for the benefit of the American people, Al Jazeera reported.
“Instead of funneling billions to its terrorist proxy, Israel, and 750 bases, this failing empire could spend that cash on its own people,” Ghalibaf wrote.

He then directly challenged Bessent, questioning the Treasury secretary’s credibility and urging him to take action.
“Scotty, man, your credibility is on the line. Do something,” Ghalibaf added.
His remarks came in response to Bessent’s comments on Iran’s economic situation, highlighting the increasingly confrontational rhetoric between Tehran and Washington as tensions over Iran’s economy and US policy continue.
