The letter to Fifa boss Gianni Infantino says the global association should have cash reserves of $6bn (£4.49bn) after the World Cup and can afford such a “one-off release”, ITV reported.

The from Uefa and Concacaf, the respective football associations of Europe and North America, Central America and the Caribbean, said this would total $2.1bn (£1.57bn) to the 211 federations.
Uefa and Concacaf want to remove Infantino, either before or at the Fifa presidential election next March, after leading a global backlash in July against his World Cup sell-off plan to investors led by Joshua Kushner.
He is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
