According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Jalali said Rezaei had emphasized Tehran’s concerns about Washington’s reliability in implementing any potential agreement.
The Iranian security official reportedly told Putin that negotiations alone would not be sufficient to end the conflict, pointing to previous US attacks against Iran while diplomatic efforts were underway.
He specifically referred to military strikes carried out despite ongoing diplomatic contacts in Oman, Geneva and Islamabad.
Rezaei argued that these developments demonstrated the need for concrete guarantees rather than relying exclusively on diplomatic negotiations.
According to IRIB, the Iranian official also reiterated Tehran’s position that Washington must fully and unconditionally accept Iran’s seven strategic conditions before the Strait of Hormuz can be completely reopened.
The conditions remain a central issue in diplomatic efforts aimed at ending hostilities and restoring maritime traffic through the strategically important waterway.
Tehran has repeatedly insisted that reopening the Strait of Hormuz and advancing negotiations with Washington depend on the United States meeting its demands.
The discussions between Rezaei and Putin come amid continuing diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement on regional security and the future of US-Iran relations.
