The Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) issued an air raid alert at 5:25 am, Kyiv Post reported.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported tracking jet-powered drones entering the Kyiv region and moving toward the capital before later appearing over the city itself.
Explosions were heard in Kyiv at around 5:34 a.m. and again at 5:42 a.m.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko later said on Telegram that a Russian drone had struck a gas station in the city’s Darnytskyi district, injuring one person.
“Medics hospitalized one wounded person. The man is in critical condition,” he wrote.
He also said that, according to preliminary information, a warehouse facility in the Obolonskyi district had been hit.
A drone threat was announced in Kyiv again at 7:49 a.m. At around 8 a.m., Kyiv Post reporters heard a very loud explosion.
Klitschko subsequently confirmed that a UAV had apparently struck a non-residential area in the Solomianskyi district.
“Emergency services are en route to the scene,” he added.
In an 8:51 a.m. report, Klitschko said heavy smoke was reported in the Holosiivskyi district following a drone strike on a gas station.
“Two people have already been wounded in the morning attack on the capital. Medics have hospitalized both of the wounded,” the mayor said.
Klitschko later clarified that the number of casualties had risen to four. All four are being treated in city hospitals, with two in critical condition.
