Ghalibaf posted an image on Monday featuring the phrase “Make America Hungry Again” alongside statistics on hunger and food insecurity in the United States, Anadolu Agency reported.
The post came after Trump shared a Newsmax report on his Truth Social account that inaccurately attributed the statement “We Are Hungry, We Cannot Survive” to Ghalibaf.

Without directly naming Trump, the Iranian parliament speaker responded: “You cannot cover up your defeats with baseless claims.”
Ghalibaf’s post is a reference to Trump’s signature “Make America Great Again” slogan, which has been closely associated with the US president and his political movement.
The exchange comes as Washington continues to intensify economic pressure on Tehran.
Last Wednesday, Trump announced plans for what he described as “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country”, calling his campaign against Iran an unprecedented effort of “economic warfare and isolation”.
Trump also warned countries and organisations that provide Tehran with an economic “lifeline” through financial institutions, businesses, airports or government entities that they could face severe economic consequences.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated sharply since the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran in late February.
Iran responded with attacks against Israel and US military assets across the region before the sides reached a ceasefire agreement in April.
In mid-June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding calling for freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. However, implementation of the agreement later stalled amid continuing disagreements.
The US resumed attacks on Iran last month, prompting Tehran to retaliate against US military facilities and equipment in several Arab countries.
The latest exchange between Trump and Ghalibaf comes as both sides continue to trade accusations over Iran’s economic conditions and the impact of US sanctions.
