Israel says it destroyed Hezbollah tunnels in southern Lebanon
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the Israeli military had destroyed underground Hezbollah infrastructure at the Ali al-Taher ridge in southern Lebanon.
Israeli forces will remain in the area and continue attacking the Iran-allied group’s infrastructure to “thwart any attempt by Hezbollah to re-establish itself or rebuild its capabilities,” the statement added, Al Jazeera reported.
Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed on Friday that Israeli forces had driven Hezbollah fighters out of a tunnel network after taking control of the ridge.

Israeli air force strikes targeted the municipality of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon, according to a correspondent on the ground.
It’s not immediately clear whether there are any casualties, Al Jazeera reported.

In March, Israel invaded Lebanon for the second time in less than two years. The first invasion in October 2024 was followed by a near-full Israeli withdrawal, with soldiers remaining in five locations in southern Lebanon.
After the second invasion, however, Israel has said its troops will stay on in southern Lebanon despite promises from US officials that the Israelis do not have territorial ambitions.
