The tragic accident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. at kilometer 2 of the highway heading toward Salceda. A Kia crossover, driven by a 68-year-old woman with her 62-year-old brother in the passenger seat, unexpectedly veered into the oncoming lane. The vehicle bypassed an entire intersection lane before colliding directly with an oncoming car. The impact was so severe that emergency responders had to cut away the roof of the Kia to recover the bodies of the siblings, who were residents of Salvaterra, News.Az reports, citing La Vozde Galicia.
While investigators are still looking into the official cause, authorities believe the driver may have suffered a sudden medical emergency or completely lost control of the steering wheel right before the crash.

A massive emergency response—including the local police, Guardia Civil, and 061 medical teams—descended on the scene to manage traffic, support the victims, and clear the debris scattered across the highway.
