Acting Army Secretary Adam Telle announced the initiative Monday during the opening ceremony of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) National Convention in Washington, Anadolu Agency reported.
Telle described the event as a competitive exercise designed to challenge both the Army’s Organic Industrial Base (OIB) and the wider US manufacturing network under demanding conditions.

“The US Army is going to do something we’ve never done before: early next year we will conduct what I’m calling a manufacturing rodeo — a race between our industrial base partners that strains our organic industrial base, stresses the supply chain, pressures manufacturing processes, and shows us exactly where it breaks,” Telle said.
The exercise will seek to expose weaknesses in production systems and supply chains when they come under pressure. The findings are expected to help the Army determine where additional investment, improved manufacturing processes or new production capabilities may be necessary.
Telle said the initiative would prioritize practical testing of industrial capacity rather than relying solely on planning and analysis. The goal is to identify potential bottlenecks and assess how effectively the US industrial base can support the military’s equipment requirements.
