The Russian technology and artificial intelligence company said the attack on its Sasovo data centre forced it to suspend operations at the site, which houses tens of thousands of servers, Reuters reported.
“The scale of the damage to the infrastructure is still being assessed,” Yandex said in a statement. “For the moment, we cannot confirm whether it is possible to restore the data centre equipment in Sasovo.”

The company said some of its services had become unavailable following the incident, while specialist teams were deployed to assess the damage.
The Sasovo facility is one of Yandex’s five large data centres and plays a significant role in the company’s computing infrastructure.
Two of Yandex’s three supercomputers used to develop its artificial intelligence models are also housed at the site. The company has not disclosed whether either of the supercomputers was damaged in the strike.
Yandex’s statement comes as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange drone attacks, with critical infrastructure and industrial facilities among the sites affected by the ongoing conflict.
The company has not yet provided an estimate of the financial impact of the damage or a timeline for restoring operations at the Sasovo facility.
